E- Wallpaper

Step 1: Select a photo and change the background image name to Forest (1). Change the Document Size to 29.7cm*21.0cm, Resolution to 72pixels /inch by going to: Image> Image Size, or Alt+Ctrl+I (2).

Step 2: Change the color by going to: Image> Adjustment> Color balance or Ctrl+B. The image on top shows the color after the adjustment.

Step 3: The Images above show the photo before and after, after using patch tool to clean up the unnecessary selection.

Step 4: Add the crystal ball which I did before. Classify the crystal ball by create a new file, Crystal ball (1). Use the adjustment on the right hand side by clicking: adjustment> color balance. Press ‘alt’ on the color balance level after the adjustment (2). Repeat the step by adjusting the Hue/Saturation, and the Curve (2).

Step 5: Add the street lamp which I did before (1). Classify the street lamp by create a new file, Street lamp (2). Later, double click the street lamp layer thumbnail. After the double, the Layer Style box appears. Select the stroke to give more stroke effect on the street lamp (3).

Step 6: Add the moon which I did before and classify the street lamp by create a new file, Moon (1). Double click the Moon level thumbnail and select the Outer Glow effect (2). Go to the adjustment on right hand side by clicking: adjustment> Color Balance. Then press ‘alt’ on the color balance level (3).

Step 7: Add the pumpkin which I did before and classify the street lamp by create a new file, Pumpkin 1. Double click the Pumpkin1 level thumbnail and select the Drop Shadow and Inner Glow effect. Go to the adjustment on right hand side by clicking: adjustment> Vibration, Color Balance, Hue/Saturation, Level. Then press ‘alt’ on those adjustment levels. Repeat the step by adding another pumpkin named Pumpkin 2.

Step 8: Open a new file named Street Sign. Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool (1) and draw a shape in White color, Shape 1, and Black color, Shape 2 (2). Next, use Horizontal Type tool to type font (3) and double click to add shadow (4).

Step 9: Add the bat which I did before and classify the bat by creating a new file, Bat. Copy few more bats and give different size and rotate them by going to: Edit> Free Transform. Double click some of the bat level thumbnail and give some effect.

Step 10: Select the Horizontal type tool to write word ‘HAPPY HALLOWEEN’ (1). Change the font into Forte type and set the font size (2) .Add some effect such as Drop Shadow and Outer Glow (3).

Step 11: Add a new layer named ‘Brush’ (1). Select brush tool and change it to Scattered Maple Leaves (2).Adjust the brush tool with different color, master diameter, opacity, and flow (3).

Step 12: After finish, I use blur to the background by going to: Filter> Blur> Gaussian blur. After that, I readjust the sky into darker color to look more like a night time and recheck the image again (1). I found out that was a mistake on the font I write, so I correct it back to ‘HALLOWEEN(2). So, that’s go my Happy Halloween Festival E-Wallpaper.





Exercise- pumpkin

Step 1: Select a photo.
Step 2: Use magic wand tool to Select the selection (pumpkin) I need.
Step 3: Polygonal Lasso tool has th same function as Magic Wand Tool
. I use this tool to add the selection and subtract from the selection.Step 4: Go to 'Mask' and click 'add a pixel mask' to transparent the background (unselected).
Step 5: To check the background was transparency, go click Refine Mask by going to: Mask> Select the pixel mask> Mask Edge.

Exercise- Moon

Step 1: select a photo.
Step 2: Use elliptical Marquee Tool, then press Shift and click on the area where I want to select (the moon)

Step 3: Go to Mask and click Select the pixel mask (1) to transparent the background. Click Make Edge to refine mask, you can check that the selection is transparent a not.

This is the result after the using the mask.


Step 4: Use patch tool to click and drag the area and to a smooth area where I want to replace it. While clone stamp Tool also have the same function. press ‘alt’ to select the part, then click and move to the part.

Exercise- Street lamp

Step 1: select a picture

Step 2: use Polygonal lasso tool, then click backspace to clear the selection.

Step 3: This image show after the clearing process by using polygonal lasso tool.

Step 4: Use magic Wand Tool (1) to select the white area, then select inverse (2), later click the pixel mask on (3).

Step 5 This image shows the final of the editing. I change the file name to street lamp before end the editing.

Step 6: Select the Free transform by going to: Edit> Free transform, or press Ctrl+T. Use the free transform to resize and reflect the photo

Exercise- Bat

Step 1: open a new picture

Step 2: Use crop tool to crop the part needed

Step 3: Use Quick Selection tool and select the black area I want.

Step 4: Go to 'Mask' and click 'add a pixel mask' to transparent the background.

Exercise- Crystal Ball


Step 1: Select a picture and rename it as 'Crystal ball'


Step 2: Use Elliptical Marquee Tool and Polygonal Lasso Tool. Before use the polygonal lasso tool, click 'add to selection' as the (1) in the image, so the selection will attach with the selection during the Elliptical Marquee Tool.

Step 3: The other way to click a selection is using the Magic Wand tool. I use this tool with clicking the 'add the selection' on the bird. That means, I am selecting the bird and the crystal ball.

This image shows all the selection which i wanted to select by using the tool on step 2 and 3.


Step 4: After finish, click Mask and click the select the pixel mask. This selection give the image except the selection that i make just now become transparent.

About Halloween


Halloween is an annual holiday celebrated on the 31st October. It has roots I the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holiday All Saint’ Day, but is to largely a secular celeb

ration observed to honor the dead and the deceased.

Halloween imagery includes the themes from death, evil, the

occult, magic, or mythical m

onsters. The most considered of the Halloween symbols that are jack-o’-lanterns, pumpkin with comical face, corn husks, scarecrows, masks, owls, triangular cakes and etc. Moreover, the traditional characters of Halloween include ghosts, withes, skeletons, vampires, werewolves, demons, bats, spiders, and black cats. Home are often decorated with black and orange color which are the traditional Halloween colors that represent

the darkness of night and the color of bonfires, autumn leaves, and jack-o’-lanterns.

Common Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes, costume parties, carving jack-o’-lanterns, ghost tours, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, committing pranks, and telling ghost stories or frightening tales.

This event was held in 1 Utama shopping mall to celebrate the Halloween festival which is coming soon. During that time, I realize that Halloween was near by, and I got the inspiration to do this event for my E-Wallpaper assignment.

assignment 1 - festival

The assignment for this trimester is quite challenging to me. It is difficult because i never use Adobe Photoshop before as well as blogger too.

However, after 2 weeks of thinking, i decided to use choose Halloween as my e-wallpaper. The reason why i choose Halloween is because this festival coming soon in the end of this month, 31 October. Everyone is looking forward to celebrate it. During this period, I manage to get some picture and idea.
